Estuaire has renewed its collaboration with Airline Economics for the second edition of the Aircraft Lessor Sustainability Index, providing a data-driven benchmark of the environmental performance of the world’s largest commercial aircraft lessors.
The 2026 edition ranks 41 major lessors based on CO₂ emissions, emissions intensity, and fleet exposure, using Estuaire’s flight-level climate data platform integrated into Airline Economics’ AE+ analytics suite.
The analysis combines actual flight tracking, aircraft specifications and weather data to provide granular and comparable emissions metrics across lessor portfolios.
This year’s edition goes one step further by adding context to the ranking. Since lessors differ significantly in fleet composition and business models, the index introduces a filtered view based on average fleet age and average sector length, helping distinguish differences driven by portfolio characteristics from differences in environmental performance.
As carbon pricing and emissions disclosure requirements continue to expand, transparent and comparable data is becoming increasingly relevant for lessors, airlines and financiers assessing aviation portfolios.
